The law forbids the sale of biological and genetic material for ethical reasons. This means that the donor may not be compensated financially for the genetic material which he or she donates. Neither may the acceptors be approached for payment for the genetic material which they receive. However financial expenditures such as travel expenses or loss of earnings during the period of treatment can be compensated. The expenses involved in the treatment of an egg donor may be reimbursed by the acceptor.
More detailed information concerning the costs of treatment and the financial compensations available concerning the various donation formulas will be provided at the consultation in the CRG with either your doctor or counselor.
However, the psychological rewards far outweigh any financial rewards. As a donor you will enable one or more women to become a mother. Certainly if you have a fertility problem yourself, and have had to rely on fertility treatment to become pregnant, or even had to make use of donor material to achieve pregnancy, youÕll understand what this means to those you have helped.
